Startup Capital, Venture Finance, And AI Funding

Introduction Available · Lessons In Development

Introduction

A young AI business may need funding well before it can support itself. Research, rented compute, salaries, integrations, and physical assets can all absorb cash. The appropriate source of money depends on what is uncertain and what the business can promise. We will distinguish venture capital from project debt, follow changes in ownership, and unpack financing headlines.

Review revenue, profit, and cash in Module 8, then debt and equity in Module 9. No startup-investing background is required. Examples use hypothetical inputs to explain financing mechanics. Named, dated announcements identify the source when an actual transaction is discussed.

Start with funding instruments and ownership calculations. Next, connect spending to milestones and runway. Finally, use the company cases to prepare a funding memo. After each part, try explaining one mechanism without looking back at the definition. A financing announcement and business success are different things.
