Lesson 8 · Independent project
Fictional case: Cedar Learning Events. Attempt first; keep assessor-only answers separate.
Manager question
What changed in gross booking value and places, what remains unresolved after refunds, and which actual follow-up commitments are recorded?
Choose your output track
| Track | Deliverable |
|---|
| Manager briefing | At most 150 words in a briefing document; optional readable chart with text alternative |
| Spreadsheet and business note | Inspectable source-preserving calculation workbook plus at most 150-word business note |
| Unsent follow-up communication | At most 150-word unsent message to the supplied audience; include the comparison, unknown and actual commitments |
Common acceptance criteria
- Preserve original source; reconcile confirmed repeated export in analysis
- Calculate each period gross USD and places; independent arithmetic and percentage base
- Keep unknown refund count and complete adjusted measure unresolved where necessary
- Retain task/owner/own date; unagreed fields stay unagreed
- No invented causal explanation, action authority, result or saving
- Cite actual record/note locations; disclose methods and limitations
Assessor assigns pack/method order, time basis and reviewer before work. Use approved tools or manual route; keep all messages unsent and system changes simulated.
Pack A · Source and commitments
Source and blank attempt workbook · CSV · Accessible source
| Note ID | Source note |
|---|
| A-N01 | Registration lead will confirm A208 refunded places; no deadline agreed. |
| A-N02 | Programme coordinator prepares a workshop-mix note by June 9, 2026. |
| A-N03 | No new advertising campaign decision was made; the records establish no cause of booking changes. |
| A-N04 | Communications owns the manager briefing, due June 11, 2026. All messages remain unsent. |
Definitions and export note
- Gross booking value = places × USD per place, before refunds.
- Simplified adjusted value subtracts refund places × same record price; other costs and taxes excluded.
- Final raw row repeats the named prior record as confirmed in supplied export note. Preserve original; count once in analysis.
- Blank final refund count means unconfirmed, not zero.

MAT19 · Baseline and whole-task value log

MAT20 · Review standards
Every dimension at least 3 AND every critical gate passes. Total maximum 24; a high sum cannot compensate for a failed dimension or gate.
| Dimension | Score 3 standard |
|---|
| Task and criteria | Useful question, audience and observable acceptance criteria recorded before work. |
| Safe data/tool/actions | Fictional or approved information, suitable tool/account and explicit access/action boundaries; unsent/simulated scope retained. |
| Source/calculation/output verification | Source-linked important claims, independent arithmetic, correct percentage base, actual commitment matches and visible unknowns. |
| Deliverable quality | Accurate, usable, audience-appropriate final output meeting length/format and accessibility requirements. |
| Whole-task comparison | Comparable stated criteria and time basis; preparation/check/correction included, measured/estimated/unknown and cost limits recorded. |
| Revision and decision | Observed checks/defects/corrections/rechecks and limitations support a bounded reuse/revise/manual recommendation. |
Critical gates
- No unapproved real data or credentials
- No unauthorized sending or system change
- No unresolved critical fact/calculation presented as established
- No fabricated result, measurement or savings
- Source and independent-check evidence inspectable
A labeled authored-draft simulation may demonstrate review, source verification, correction and judgment. For VALUE, full standard requires honest baseline timing, observed review/correction effort, unmeasured generation marked unknown and a limited decision; it does not require claiming actual AI generation or savings.
MAT20 · Evidence index and reviewer decision
Separate reviewer applies assessor-only ground truth after attempt submission and documents revisions. Self-rating is preparation, not independent completion certification.
