Practical AI For Work

Use AI for everyday work, check the results and protect sensitive information.

No coding required. AI Foundations is a useful starting point.

What You Will Be Able To Do

Planned Lessons

1. Choose A Useful Task And Tool

Main Point: Start with a task you understand and can check.

  • Compare a chatbot, document assistant and spreadsheet assistant.
  • Check cost, privacy, accessibility and tool limits.
  • Use fictional or approved information. Keep customer, employee and confidential material out of unapproved tools.

Practice: Choose a low-risk task and define what a good result looks like.

Learning Check: Explain why the tool fits the task, what information is safe to use and when you would do the task yourself.

2. Give Clear Instructions And Improve The Answer

Main Point: State the task, context, constraints and expected output.

  • Supply relevant examples and source material.
  • Inspect the first result and revise a specific instruction.

Practice: Improve a vague request for a short briefing using fictional information.

Learning Check: Show what changed and whether the revision solved the problem.

3. Research And Check Sources

Main Point: Verify important claims against sources you can inspect.

  • Check that cited sources exist and support the claim.
  • Separate evidence, inference and uncertainty.

Practice: Build a short sourced briefing and correct an unsupported claim.

Learning Check: Identify which claims remain uncertain and what evidence is missing.

4. Work With Documents And Communications

Main Point: Use your source material and review the output for accuracy and audience.

  • Summarize a document and draft an email.
  • Check omissions, invented details and inappropriate tone.

Practice: Turn fictional meeting notes into an action list and follow-up email.

Learning Check: Confirm every owner, deadline and commitment against the notes.

5. Use AI With Spreadsheets

Main Point: Check the data, formulas and units before trusting the conclusion.

  • Ask for a formula and inspect how it works.
  • Recognize missing values and misleading comparisons.

Practice: Analyze a small fictional sales table and verify a calculation independently.

Learning Check: Explain the denominator, units and one limitation of the result.

6. Create Presentations And Visuals

Main Point: Build a clear message and review every claim and visual.

  • Turn a verified briefing into a presentation outline.
  • Check image permissions, accessibility and misleading charts.

Practice: Create a three-slide recommendation with a source note and an accessible chart.

Learning Check: Explain how each slide supports the recommendation.

7. Build A Safe And Repeatable Workflow

Main Point: Keep sensitive information protected and important decisions under human review.

  • Use fictional or properly approved information.
  • Set review and escalation points before connecting tools or automating actions.

Practice: Map a recurring task and mark what AI may draft, what needs review and what it must not do.

Learning Check: Identify a failure, its consequence and the person responsible for catching it.

8. Complete And Evaluate A Work Project

Main Point: Judge the whole result, including checking and correction time.

  • Compare with a baseline for time, quality and cost.
  • Document limitations and decide whether to reuse the workflow.

Practice: Deliver a briefing, spreadsheet analysis or communication package using non-confidential material.

Learning Check: Provide the original task, final output, source checks, revisions and a reuse recommendation.

How The Final Project Will Be Reviewed

Each criterion will be marked Meets The Standard or Needs Revision, with feedback before resubmission.
